GloCell are the world’s leading producer of software that allows mills to optimise their pulp usage and production. The SoftaCell programme from GloCell allows mills to select the most cost effective pulps to produce a paper or board product that meets, or even exceeds, the parameters set by the customer.
GloCell has been collecting data and carrying out trials with pulps and pulp combinations since the company was formed and has built a large database of the characteristics and properties that pulps give to the end product.
As well as optimising pulp usage, the Softacell software gives mills a benchmarking tool to compare the qualities of pulps, such as the tensile index, CSF, SR, Bulk, Opacity and many others.
Softacell also allows the user to create pulp mixes. Then select the refining inputs and get data for the end product. This means that there is no longer a need for trial runs. By entering the pulp and the characteristics you require for the paper of board you are making, Softacell will give you the cost and profit figures as well as the Quality data needed to make a production decision .e.g. SR, Fibre length, Tensile index, Stretch, Opacity etc.
ROI – the all-important Return On Investment can be as little as 4 weeks, even for a small mill the POI is unlikely to be more than 6 months. Typical savings made by mills are between 5 and15 Euros per tonne of paper produced, with some mills reporting even higher savings.
