Jon West, commercial director, said the firm, which has recently branched out to tulip paper packaging for muffins, deals in a traded commodity which are affected massively by the FX rates.
“We are impacted significantly by the strength of the pound against the euro and the dollar, and the euro against the dollar.
“We know how to deal with that and can manage our business accordingly. The bit we don’t know yet is the uncertainty about the trade tarrifs and not being in the single market. We have no idea what the impact will be to our business.”
He added that the reality was that i2r’s mainland European competitors have not been impacted by the currency fluctuation
“Our push is to go outside the Euro zone. We see Asia as a big opportunity – there’s massive potential.”
