Medica Packaging produces printed cartons and leaflets for customers in the pharmaceutical, healthcare sectors, as well as offering a contract packaging service.
Harford has been employed in the packaging industry for over 25 years, actively involved in both the FMCG and pharmaceutical and healthcare markets.
In 2006 he became the owner of Storey Evans, an independent Pharmaceutical & Healthcare Packaging supplier, which was successfully acquired as part of European Contego Healthcare Packaging Group.
Harford successfully led Contego Healthcare as Managing Director of the UK and then recently as part of Essentra PLC.
“This is a demanding market sector, where there is a growing desire from customers for a truly independent, service and quality focused, competitive producer,” said Harford. “Medica is therefore a compelling opportunity both for clients and myself.”
John Bath, chief executive of Medica, added: “When Medica left the Benson group, I focused the company on our vision of growth through excellence and our mission to become our customers’ most valued provider. Specialising in the markets we serve, we have an excellent record on quality and service, and I am pleased that Gerard will now be leading the company to capitalise on the significant progress we have already made.”
