Small integrated motors pack big features into limited spaces
As the official UK & Ireland distributor of Schneider Electric Motion USA, Motion Control Products recently launched an upgraded version of Lexium MDrive integrated motors - a range of stepper motors (NEMA size 17, 23 and 34) integrated with built-in electronics, delivering a large range of features to small spaces.
Features now include an IP65 rated version with industrial M12 connectors. M12 Lexium MDrive products provide a robust interface, with IP65 certification for protection against water and dust in harsher environments. Compact in size, these feature-rich products outperform many larger motors, delivering up to 2 times the motor torque with hMT closed loop technology. hMT never loses functional control of the motor, so de-rating a motor’s max torque by 50% to prevent stalling can be eliminated.
Our Lexium MDrive products are well-suited for both new and existing applications. They fit neatly into small spaces, while reducing system wiring by up to 40%. And interfacing numerous network communication protocols enables interoperability with devices from various vendors. Network options include EtherNet/IP, ModbusTCP, Profinet, CANopen, and serial RS-422/485 with programmable motion control and pulse/direction input. EtherNet/IP is the most widely used industrial Ethernet solution for factory automation. Developed by Rockwell Automation, and managed by the Open DeviceNet Vendors Association (ODVA), EtherNet/IP provides a complete set of services and messages for control, synchronisation, safety, motion and data exchange.
“Since successfully pioneering ‘integrated motors’, the MDrive brand remains 1st in a field of integrated motor followers,” according to Steve McKay, Motion Control Products Ltd. “And now Lexium MDrive products offer M12 connectors, IP65 certification and multiple protocol interfaces such as EtherNet/IP, ModbusTCP, Profinet and CANopen, which mean an even more robust compact product is available.”
MDrive is a complete family of products integrating high-torque step motors (rotary and linear), controller, I/O, drive electronics, encoder and closed-loop performance in compact packages. In motion today in a wide range of applications from medical, laboratory and pharmaceutical to assembly, robotics and packaging.
