Wireless toxic gas monitor for challenging remote locations
Emerson has introduced its first fully integrated WirelessHART toxic gas monitor – the Rosemount 928.
The Rosemount 928 was developed to meet a need for improved safety, offering a solution to monitor toxic hydrogen sulphide gas in wellheads, tank farms, and other remote locations were previously it would have been too expensive and difficult to monitor due to remote or difficult-to-access locations.
Due to the cost of wired devices in remote locations operators have been forced to rely on portable gas monitoring devices which provide no early warning of toxic gases.
The Rosemount 928 gas monitor integrates into a WirelessHART network, eliminating wiring and reducing installation, commissioning, and maintenance costs. Once integrated into the wireless network, personnel simply check the status of the remote monitoring system to know if a maintenance trip is safe.
In addition, the gas monitor includes a power module and the Rosemount 628 toxic gas sensor module that are both intrinsically safe and can be replaced in the field in minutes without the need for tools. The Rosemount 628 stores calibration information within the sensor not the transmitter. This allows users to calibrate it in a non-hazardous location and carry it into the field for quick exchanges with installed sensors.>
